Reading to Recharge + Podcast Recommendation

How do you recharge?

It is not always possible, but every afternoon I try to sit down and read a little. I will make a cup of tea or decaf coffee and read a chapter or two.

Occasionally I fall asleep for 5-10 minutes before I'm inevitably interrupted. It takes a lot of discipline to sit down and make myself relax because... a woman's work is never done! But I feel so much better after a little reading, ready to tackle the dinner hour!
.....

Also, I have an inspiring book lover's podcast to recommend - What Should I Ready Next? with Anne Bogel. Anne Bogel from the blog Modern Mrs. Darcy discusses all things books with her guests, ending each show with her recommendations for what they should read next. It has been extremely helpful in putting together my own (short) book list.

  1. I have heard great things about "All the Light We Cannot See." How are you liking it?

  2. I loved your current book!

I'm an avid reader, so I always have a book list at the ready. I get my inspiration from friend recommendations, The New York Times book review, Mrs. Darcy's blog, and sometimes I'll go to Barnes and Noble. I rarely buy there; just take pics if covers that interest me, then add to my list.

I'm a huge fan of the public library. I'll often request several books at once (from their online site)

  3. oh! My friend just recommended "All the Light" to me. Do you like it?

How do I recharge? I think it's something creative - like sewing, knitting, blogging. I do take naps sometimes. I read before I go to bed and when I'm nursing.

  4. If you like this one, you should read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It follows a pair of sisters through WW2 so it's somewhat similar, but different.

Reading recharges me, too. I've also lately taken to mixing audiobooks in with paper ones and I can steal a chapter or two while folding laundry, doing dishes, etc. We have a subscription to audible.com and get a free credit every month which basically means a free book!
