Tea Drinking

I'm a tea drinker. And I did not come by it honestly. For the longest, I drank a cup of coffee every afternoon. It was a "get away"and re-fuel type situation.

But after a real bad stretch of terrible sleep, I decided to switch to afternoon tea. As a matter of fact...decaf.  It took me weeks to adjust. I wanted the jolt and tea did not deliver. But I knew I could not go back to not sleeping.

Now I really feel like I'm on the other side. I'm weaned from my 2 pm coffee. I love tea, look forward to tea. And I sleep.

One of my favorite parts of this new tea thing is every time my 5 year old hears the whistle from tea kettle he yells, "OH Mama! I want some teeeaaa!"

Right now he's taking his tea and watching Mr. Rodgers. What a life!

When I am drinking the caffeinated variety, I love Harney and Sons.

Shopping for Boys

I just did some online bathing suit shopping for my boys and it got me thinking about boys' clothing.

I think it is so hard to shop for little boys! The tacky, punk-ish clothes far outweigh the classic, handsome clothes I prefer. Also, I've found that my boys are so hard on their clothes. So I like to buy things that are durable, or inexpensive, or somewhere in between.

Here are a few of my go-to items that I have bought, and will buy again, and have passed down from my oldest to my youngest.

Carhartt Little Boys' Washed Duck Bib Overalls These are tough as nails. And the color hides a multitude of sins. The straps adjust so they grow with the boy. I think Stephen wore these for 2.5 years and they still look good as new.

Levi's Little Boys 505 Regular Jean These are my favorite. I just like the way they look. Classic American blue jeans. They have an adjustable waist strap which is nice for fitting your leaner types.

Toddler New Balances Evey time my boys need new tennis shoes I just order another pair of these New Balances. Often my mom treats them to a new pair. Only recently have we varied the color and bought the navy ones which look really nice with Stephen's school uniform.

After searching high and low for boys' bathing suits that do not scream Spring Break, Panama City Beach 2015, I found these handsome swim trunks on Amazon. They were on major sale (!!!), but there were not many left in stock. I ordered matching suits for both boys.

And since I had summer on my mind, I added this thermos to my wish list. A friend has gotten me hooked on these. Laurie got the Hello Kitty one for Christmas and you've never seen a girl drink so much water. There is just something wonderful to my kids about drinking out of a cool container.

Direction

It's been too long! Greetings, Happy New Year!

I confess, I pushed snooze when the new year rolled around. Typically, I'm eager to drag out the Christmas tree on December 26th, make New Year's resolutions, and clean up and clean out. But this year I dragged.

About a week ago, I realized I needed some direction.  So I made some goals.

1. Exercise five times a week. Two of the times will be long walks on the weekends. The other three times, I need to fit in during the weekdays. This gives me two days I don't have to face it. I think that's a nice amount of margin.

Up until recently, I've been relying completely on Pure Barre for my exercise - and I still love it. But for the sake of my time, money, and schedule right now I'm going to make it a once in a while thing when I need an extra hard workout.

2. Deal with my photos. Sort through all my digital files and print the best of the best. My action plan is to spend 15 minutes a day choosing pictures, uploading them, and printing them at Costco. I'm going to do print orders 6 months of pictures at a time. I'm almost half way through 2010. Fifteen minutes is realistic, about the only amount of uninterrupted time I can get. Also, I feel like I only have the capacity to do this project in small batches.

3. Keep a cleaner house. I created a cleaning schedule this week. I already have an order in which I do things every day, but I've never been one for cleaning schedules room by room. This has been my first week and I love the freedom the schedule gives me to focus on certain areas on certain days.

Monday- bathrooms
Tuesday- kitchen
Wednesday- kids bedrooms
Thursday - master bedroom
Friday - living areas

It will be interesting to see if it sticks.

.....

It's amazing how having these few little goals has helped me seize my free time this week. I'm so directionless without a goal.

What about you?

So, do you have any goals/resolutions this year? I know people get annoyed by them. But I've found I can't get anything done without them!
